Between RaftersInsulating a pitched roof between the rafters creates a warm roof space in a new or existing building where the ceiling is to be attached directly to the underside of the rafters.
This warm roof space can be used as additional living or storage space, adding extra value to the property. To avoid condensation occurring a 50mm ventilated air space between the insulation and traditional sarking felt is required by the Building Regulations/Standards for 'cold roof' construction.
For this application we would recommend the use of Seconds Sarking Board.
Fixing details
To maintain a 50mm ventilated void above the insulation, side nail battens to the rafters to provide a 'stop'. This will prevent the insulation boards moving into the void (see fig. 1 & 2).
Now a little birdie has told me that these are heading our way and alot of them at that. Look if you double these up you'll get 100mm board and if you are putting them between rafters at .400 centrs these are easy to handle and cut.I really can't do any better for you can I.Now the daughters have gone quite again ,worrying isn't it you do feel they are planning something very big,a surprise for me no doubt and it won't be nice will it !!!!Still I'm getting some rest aren't I so don't complain.
