Between RaftersInsulating a pitched roof between the rafters creates a warm roof space in a new or existing building where the ceiling is to be attached directly to the underside of the rafters.
This warm roof space can be used as additional living or storage space, adding extra value to the property. To avoid condensation occurring a 50mm ventilated air space between the insulation and traditional sarking felt is required by the Building Regulations/Standards for 'cold roof' construction.
For this application we would recommend the use of Seconds Sarking Board.
Fixing details
To maintain a 50mm ventilated void above the insulation, side nail battens to the rafters to provide a 'stop'. This will prevent the insulation boards moving into the void (see fig. 1 & 2).
Right another non foil board at a bargin price, cheap as chips as one person says, obviously doesn't have fish with it does he!!!!Anyway a nice thickness and easy to handle, remember these would give you nearly the same insulation value as 100mm of fibreglass !! so you could use them as a loft floor.Any way as I said youngest has got the hump so I should be having a quite time for a couple of days or at least until she realises that no one else will help her. She'll be off down to granny this afternoon who'll give her £20 then granny will con it out of me later on !!! All one big circle except I don't get a hand out !!!!!
